How to move a Proteus 106 sail boat by road

In this case its a larger version and with the extended transom, built in Thailand for Rick
it looks like moving was not too difficult and I think they launched off the beach?

As our plys and MDF stations kit weighs some 2600 kgs, the epoxy 150 kgs, all up and when complete this will  still be a light displacement boat, good for sailing of course.

The need to move such a load on a national highway will require a road legal wide bed trailer and licenced rig driver.

Project Hillman Imp Californian by the Rootes Car Co Scotland 1967

This one has been with the family over two decades, then sold and bought back six months ago in mid July 2014.

The car is dated 3rd February 1967, a rare export model, it was found with Mozambique plates on it some many years back.

It was originally white, then sprayed red and right now its in an automotive twin pack grey primer and almost ready for some red paints.

Soon to be red again.

The car is licenced and even has its original engine so the numbers match, not only that but the crank still has its original bearings (they are perfect) and the pistons are the originals also!

Tailor Made By V Huttley The Lucky 7 Oberon Fly Reels Part 4

It's kind of fitting that the same week that Bell's Brewery released the first batch of Oberon for the summer season that Vince Huttley of Tailor Made By V. Huttley would get back in the shop for an update on "The Lucky 7" fly reels.

Since the last update, Vince has had some life changes but he's back in the shop with enthusiasm to get this project finished up and I'm ready to have one of these in my hands soon.

If this is the first post you've seen of this project, then get caught up HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Vince wrote...  "I've had a slow few months with the new addition to the family and the new day job consuming most of my time.  As for progress, all the aluminum parts have been returned from anodizing and the fit out starts.  I will let the photos explain most of these steps.  Machining all the screws, bushes, axles for these from brass is fairly time consuming as tolerances need to be quite tight.  After all the bits are made, it's just assembling all parts and fine tuning the reel to make sure there's no rubbing and all is aligned.  The next step is to create the wooden fly boxes."

All "Lucky 7" fly reels are spoken for, but that doesn't mean that you still can't follow along with the latest shop news on the Tailor Made By V. Huttley website as well as Facebook and Instagram too.

Daveys peddle boat by Dix Design

We are in discussion with Davey re the supply of materials required to build a new design by Dudley Dix, this one could well become our next kit boat offering?

Roy

From the Dix Design Blog:

For as long as man has been on this gorgeous blue planet of ours he has sought to find adventure wherever he can. There have always been those who simply have to see what is over that next hill. When we all know what is over that next hill then the adventure becomes going over that next hill in some way that has never been done before. It has probably not been done that way before because it is just too big a challenge for most people to consider trying.

That insurmountable challenge is the best of reasons for some people to try it anyway, to prove that it actually can be done and to prove themselves to themselves. In the process of succeeding they also prove themselves to the rest of mankind. Some of mankind thinks it exceedingly silly to do these things and will be eternally critical of those who try. They have no adventurous spirit themselves and would never attempt anything that they consider the least bit risky or dangerous. Some of them become bureaucrats to control others or they encourage bureaucrats to stop the adventurers from being adventurous, a misguided attempt to protect them from themselves.

I have written here before about one such adventurous person, Anthony Steward. He is the only person to have sailed around the world in an open boat. I am fortunate that Anthony selected my TLC 19 hull as the basis for his open boat voyage. Everyone thought that he was crazy in his quest but he was permitted to do it. That is how it should be.

Still an incomplete design, the openings and windows will be designed in later, Dudley mentions he may also do this as an open pulling boat, this type of boat has become very popular by others recently.
